A charming and cosy cottage for 2 to 4 guests, nestled in the hamlet of Sur la Heid, in Aywaille
Book your stayLocated in the Ardennes (Belgium) in the municipality of Aywaille and overlooking the Amblève valley, "Sur la Heid" is a small hamlet of 40 houses. It is a very quiet place — the village ends with a dirt path leading down to Aywaille. Many walks are accessible from the cottage. The GR 576 long-distance trail passes through the village. It sits just above the famous La Redoute cycling climb (Liège-Bastogne-Liège).
The village name comes from the Walloon word "heid" meaning "path", as it is the "chemin des gattes" — the path of the goats. A herd of wild goats roams the surroundings and a nature reserve borders the village. It is in this reserve that the famous Joubarbe d'Aywaille plant (Sempervivum funckii var. aqualiense) can be found, sought after by plant enthusiasts.

Gîte Cocoon is a magnificent place. The country side is more beautiful than what we imagined. Sur la Heid is right out of a book of fairytales. But, the most memorable part of our stay was your comfortable, peaceful and meticulous home and your graciousness.
